This is not a buyer story or a seller story, this is a human story!
Kindness and compassion are more important than ever and is the main reason I love being a Realtor. In this industry, you have the opportunity to touch people's lives on a daily basis and help them achieve their goals. One of my favorite parts of the job is assisting buyers in finding their first or next homes.
There are houses and there are “This feels like home!” houses. This feeling brings me back to one of my favorite buyers, Trisha, who fell in love with a home bursting with character and charming on Spruce Street. On our first showing, we met the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins, who were amiable and accommodating. It only took one visit and offer to get the home under contract for Trisha, who was beaming with excitement.
Fast forward settlement day, we arrived at Trisha’s new home to complete our final walkthrough, however, the couple looked like something was troubling them. I asked them if there was anything I could do to lift their spirits. It turns out their house still had several of their belongings inside, and they only had their two grandchildren to help clean out prior to moving. We still had time before settlement, so Trisha’s boyfriend and I rolled up our sleeves and started moving the remainder of their belongings out of the house. They were extremely grateful and appreciative, as was Trisha.
Finally, we sat down at the settlement table, Trisha was to my left and Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins sat across from us. After a smooth closing, the couple thanked me again. It is important to me and my team that as a Realtor we don’t see people as transactions, even if they are on the opposite side. Trisha was very happy with the process and we both got to practice our ‘Golden Rule’ treat others as you would want to be treated. Knowing that I made, what could have been, a very stressful and difficult experience better for both parties reminded me why Real Estate is my chosen career. I love what I do, therefore intertwined in my life I find inspiration from my clients and everyone I interact with, including my amazing team that I consider family. I wouldn’t change it for the world!
