Coffee & Real Estate in Philadelphia

Hi, I’m Marie!

As a busy Real Estate Agent, I am always on the move. I may start my day in Fishtown with a Listing appointment and end it with evening showings in West Philadelphia; laptop in tow and coffee in hand.

Part of my childhood was spent on my family's coffee plantation in Panama, so coffee has always been a huge part of my life, from bean to cup. It has my heart.

I am lucky to live in a city with such a rich coffee culture, and throughout my day, I am able to combine two of my favorite things: real estate and Coffee.

β€œA few photos from the coffee plantation I grew up on in Panama. Oh, and I had to feature my mom’s pet deer! This area has recently been designated as an ecological resort. The views are breath taking.”

Philadelphia's coffee scene is hot! It was truly difficult narrowing down some of my favorite local spots. Whether I am meeting clients, working in between showings, or simply picking up a cup to go, coffee keeps me going throughout my day. I put together some of my favorite coffee stops in the city, along with my absolute favorite roasts, as well as my go-to menu items!

Some of Marie’s favorite coffee stops in the city:

ULTIMO POINT BREEZE

Ultimo Located at: 1900 S. 15th Street

Ultimo is an awesome urban local coffee roaster, serving amazing hand-poured drip coffee from a rotating bean selection and espresso drinks crafted with local milk.

Marie’s take: I spend a good amount of time in Point Breeze and Newbold for work and I have proudly designated Ultimo my second office.  They often carry Panama Geisha, which is a splurge, but well worth it to experience a taste of home.

Herman’s Coffee Pennsport

Herman's Coffee - Located at: 1313 S. 3rd Street

Located in a former auto repair shop, Herman’s is a small batch coffee roaster in the heart of Pennsport, serving coffee & espresso, pastries & espresso cocktails.

Marie’s take: I love how the roaster is exposed the moment you walk in. It's such a treat to see coffee roasting in action! I started going to Herman’s last summer when I discovered their amazing coffee tonics.

Menagerie

old city

Menagerieο»Ώ - Located at: 18 S. 3rd Street

A cozy atmosphere is everything when it comes to a local coffee shop. Located in the heart of Old City, this brick-walled space has retro-style lighting and a comfortable vibe that immediately makes you feel at home while enjoying your morning coffee.

Marie’s take: Menagerie is right around the corner from my actual office! I tend to purchase the whole bean bags of their single origins from Dogwood Coffee Co. FYI: If you buy a bag of coffee, you get a free drink.  I always select a Latte or a pour-over.

REANIMATOR COFFEE IN KENSINGTON

ReAnimator - Located at: 310 W. Mascher Street

ReAnimator is a specialty coffee roaster focused on fresh, seasonal single origin coffees.

Marie’s take:  I have been a fan of these guys since they were selling bags of coffee at Greensgrow 10 years ago. Their roaster and coffee shop has a great atmosphere. They always have amazing Ethiopian coffee, and despite my Panamanian roots, it is actually my favorite region for coffee.

LA COLOMBE COFFEE ROASTERS FISHTOWN

La Colombe Coffee Roastersο»Ώ - Located at: 1335 Frankford Avenue

Marie’s take: La Colombe is a great place to people watch, it energizes me (well, maybe it's the coffee). When I have a packed day, I start here with a coffee and I always grab one of their Ham and Butter sandwiches. They bake all their bread onsite, and let me tell you, the baguettes are phenomenal!

Photo featuring: Churro @churrobearchow with his Lioness Blend of LaColombe. Ironically, Marie’s favorite dessert is, you guessed it, Churros! Follow Marie on Instagram: @feedmechurros

One Shot - Located at: 217 W. George Street

Proudly serving Stumptown Coffee, this spot is the epitome of hip. This Nolibs cafe offers coffee drinks and basic bites in a cozy rustic setting. They also make all their fresh pastries in house. Enjoy reading? This great spot has an awesome upstairs library!

Marie’s take: One Shot has an expansive menu and you can even order a salad with your coffee. I would call this my β€˜healthy-ish’ cafe option!

Elixir - Located at: 207 S. Sydenham Street Philadelphia, PA

Elixir is a truly unique spot. They specialize in lighter-roasted unique and exquisite coffees. This independent coffee roaster is also cool spot to hang out. They are also nationally recognized!

Marie’s take: When in Center City, I always make sure to caffieinate at Elixir. Any of their Single Origins are great, they are all hand-poured.

Little Susie’s Coffee + Pie port richmond

Little Susie’s Coffee & Pie - Located at: 2532 East Lehigh Avenue

Inarguably one of the most traditional spots on the list, Little Susie’s is a family-owned Coffee & Pie Shop serving Port Richmond, Kensington, and Fishtown. All of their pie crusts are rolled out by hand. As for coffee, they proudly serve LaColombe.

Marie’s take: This place has saved me since it opened. It is on my way out of the house. They serve Pork Roll Hand Pies that are absolutely amazing, they are a must try. You will thank me later.
